Spring is here and every year I go through a smoothie faze that usually lasts up until September.
This year I've introduced Kale into my smoothies. Last two years I got used to the idea of spinach in my smoothies. 😃
So here is my green smoothie recipe. Of course you can do variations of this recipe as smoothies are very forgiving.
Serves 2-3
- 3 large kale leaves
- 1-2 small handfuls of spinach
- 1/6th (3/4 Cup) of a pineapple. I did this by purchasing the cored and peeled fresh pineapple in the container and cut a chunk out of it.
- 1/2 cut up apple or 1/2 cup apple juice
-1/2 cup water or 1/4 cup water if using apple juice
- 5-6 I've cubes
Optional/ Variations:
1) 1 inch cube shredded ginger and 1/4 lemon squeezed
2) 1 Banana, 1/4 orange
Place liquids in blender followed by kale, spinach, pineapple, apple, ice. Then blend on high until fully blended and smoothie is green with no visible chunks! Pour on ice and Enjoy!
